The Final Conference of the EU – Turkey Chambers Forum (ETCF) Project was held on 16 November 2009 in Istanbul, Ciragan Kempinski. The Closing Conference has been organize jointly by EUROCHAMBRES and TOBB. 150 people attended the Final Conference from the local Turkish and EU Chambers as well as Secretariat General for EU, Delegation of the European Commission, EUROCHAMBRES, and TOBB. The Final Conference has started with “partnership exhibition” where all 22 Grant Scheme Partnership projects had the change to introduce and promote their projects as well as their cities / regions. This exhibition was followed by a Welcome Lunch. The opening speeches of the conference was given by M.Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of TOBB; Georgios Kassimatis, Deputy President of EUROCHAMBRES; Tibor Varadi, Deputy Head of the Delegation of the European Commission to Turkey and Burak Erdenir, Deputy Secretary General of the Secretariat General for European Union Affairs. Following the opening speeches, Dirk Vantyghem (Director International Affairs, EUROCHAMBRES) gave an overall presentation on the activities which have increased Turkish Chambers’ knowledge on business-related acquis. Prof. Cagri Erhan from ATAUM focused on the “ETCF EU Training Programme” which was followed by testimonies of participants (Aslihan Engin from Antalya CCI and Baran Ucaner from Gaziantep CC). The general overview of the second part of the ETCF project was presented by Mustafa Bayburtlu (Head of EU Department, TOBB). He explained the activities which have enhanced the general service capacity of Turkish Chambers. His presentation was followed by testimonies of two EUROCHAMBRES Academy scholars (Nihat Molu from Kayseri CI and Bahar Ozsu from Istanbul CC). Then the accreditation of the Turkish Chambers under the ETCF project was presented by Dr. Mustafa Lale (Head of Industry Department, TOBB). And finally, 3 partnership projects were presented (Baris Topal, Adana CC “Green Touch”, Dr. Bulent Uygun, Denizli CI “D&S for DWE”, Rize CCI “Building Bridges from Rize to Stockholm”) After the conference, a cocktail and Gala Dinner was organized in Ciragan Kempinski where the Certificate Ceremony of the EU Training Programe participants and the Partnership Ceremony took place.
